Giants of Norway Rally

A self-supported gravel adventure across Norway’s highest peaks — where choices shape the journey.

The concept

There’s no single fixed route — only checkpoints. Riders choose their own line through mountains, valleys, and ferry crossings, balancing time and ambition.

  • Take the fastest line.
  • Tackle the optional giant climbs for bonus points.
  • Hop on a ferry across the lake to gamble for time.

Self-supported. No official timing. No prizes. Just the ride.

Route & scoring

Route basics

  • Reach all mandatory checkpoints in order — that’s your backbone.
  • Optional “Giant” checkpoints add adventure and extra points.
  • Ferry crossings are allowed; waiting counts toward your time.

Scoring

Score = (Total points ÷ total elapsed time in hours) × 100

  • Every checkpoint (mandatory + optional) gives points.
  • Elapsed time runs continuously from Tynset to Vinstra — sleeps and stops included.
  • No official race timing or prizes; results feed the Hall of Fame.

Ride your own ride: take the direct line, chase Giants — or mix both. Your story is in the choices you make along the way.

The Open Challenge

  • After the first edition, the route remains open year-round as a self-supported challenge.
  • Register to access the same tracking system used during the event.
  • Verified attempts are added to the Giants of Norway Hall of Fame.

Checkpoints

Mandatory and optional checkpoint coordinates and the bonus structure will be announced soon.
